Halas

Starting Location

All characters start at 139, 54 Map Icon.png, which is a little ways back from the "moat" which protects the city

Guilds (Starting Quests)

Rogues (Map #6 and #7)

New Rogues are instructed to take their a tattered note to Dun McDowell, who is located in the Rogue's Guild (aka Cappi's, secret home of the Rogues of the White Rose). Dunn is in location #6 on the map, behind the main building (#7).

From the starting point: head West and Cappi's will be the first door on the right. It has a crest of two animals (a deer and a ?) above the door. Enter and pass through the back door and you'll find Dun McDowell behind the building.

Other guild members are located inside (including the banker, so non-Rogue's should avoid hurting their Rogues of the White Rose faction).

Shaman (Map #3)

New Shaman are instructed to take their a tattered note to High Priestess Margyn at the Shaman's Guild (aka Church of the Tribunal).

From the starting point: Head West, past the first door on the right (with two animals above it) and take your first right. You will see a door (with no marker above) on your right; keep going, and on your left you will see the Shaman's Guild. Head down inside and you will find Margyn McCann in the middle of two other Shaman in the far back.

Warrior (Map #1)

to Kylan O'Danos at the Warrior's Guild (aka Pit of Doom).

From the starting point: head South, towards the water, but don't go out to where the merchants and guards are. Instead, turn left and head Northeast, past the large Halas sign. Keep going until you reach an open area with several buildings and a well in the middle.

Turn left again when you get to the well and head West between the buildings (Mac's Kilts will be on your left, McDaniel's Smokes & Spirits will be on your right). Go straight through the large archway (not off to the smaller passage to the left) and you will arrive at the Pit of Doom. Kylan O'Danos can be found inside near the bottom.

Important NPCs

Bank

The banker of Halas, Kevon McTarnigal, is located in the Rogue's Guild. It is the building with two animal heads above it, to the west of the entrance to Halas (the first door on the right).

Bag Vendors

Halas has several "Backpacks and bandages" vendors, including Kar O'Dansin (outside the Warrior's Guild/Pit of Doom), Holana Oleary in Yee Majic (a building in back of the well area), and Elona McMahon (upstairs in the Bank/Rogue's Guild).

Shaman don't have one nearby, but instead have Rose McDowell just north of their starting area. She doesn't sell bandages or other adventuring gear, but does sell other containers (eg. large boxes, quivers).

Food and Drink Vendors

Leopok Terrilon in the bank sells Iron Rations/Rations and Milk/Water (and bandages and light sources).

Quests

Everfrost Peaks

Where/What to Hunt

Initially you'll want to stay very close to Halas (#1 on the map), so that you can run for help if necessary. As you level you can slowly venture further forward. Be wary of the dangers below, and avoid heading out into the plains area (#4 and #5) until you are higher level (although the ice goblin caves, #6 on the map, are lower level).

More details needed here (eg. which monsters social agro).

Dangers

Because of the maze-like nature of the zone, especially the fact that everything is white (and so everything looks similar), one of the biggest dangers young adventurers face is simply getting lost. For this reason it's important to keep close to the starting area at first, and then (with map in hand ... or on a second monitor) slowly explore the surrounding area, and only proceeding further once you're confident you've familiarized yourself with the previous parts.

The other main danger in this area are the The Vengeful Musicians: the Vengeful Composer, Vengeful Lyricist and Vengeful Soloist. These NPCs are significantly higher than other monsters in the one, and so can easily kill unsuspecting low level characters. They wander the maze of Everfrost, and the only way to protect yourself from them is to remain vigilant and /con any approaching skeleton models you see.

Quest Shopping List

The following items dropped by monsters in Everfrost can be used to complete quests in Halas:
