Philosophy
The purpose of this wiki is to house a central source of information related to Classic Everquest as it exists on Project 1999. The community will greatly benefit from a single, unified source of information which isn't contaminated by post-Velious changes (e.g. zone revamps, item upgrades, game mechanics changes) or the hassle of tracking things down through archived sources (e.g. internet time machine).
The wiki should be relevant, dynamic, and useful. Personally I would like to see it stay more organic and less database driven. The wiki should evolve with the players and so its content should reflect that of the most interest to the community. Notes should be made when things have changed in the past or will change in the future (e.g. zone revamps, quest changes, new content pending).
Editing the wiki is strongly encouraged (that quote at the top of every page is for a reason), and the basics of editing any wiki can be found here: Help:Editing. However, the wiki has some unique features that require a little explanation.
The wiki is not a battleground for the P99 drama, you can send that to rants and flames. Do not resort to any personal attacks, deleting/changing of photos based on the person in the photo, etc.
Note: Ongoing discussion for improvements or changes to the wiki can be found at the User_talk:Ravhin (current) or Help_talk:Contents (archived).
General FAQ
- What is Project 1999?
- Project 1999 is the name of a EQEmulator Server Project.
- Why use and build this Wiki? There are several websites regarding EverQuest and its contents.
- Because Project 1999 differs from the live version of EverQuest.

- Why can't I edit the main page?
- It was locked to prevent vandalism. You can propose changes on Talk:Main Page.
- What is with the gear and quest lists on the class pages? How can I edit them?
- They are transcluded (copied) from other pages, e.g. Players:Pre Planar Gear and Class Race Quest List, have to edit them there.
- What is with Special:ClassSlotEquip? How can I edit it?
- This is a work in progress at more advanced, dynamic, allakhazam like functionality. The contents of these pages are automatically generated by querying the wiki DB and parsing the results. It's written in PHP and so cannot be edited in the normal wiki sense. If you're interested in helping development write me at User talk:Ravhin.
- What is with Special:DynamicZoneList? How can I edit it?
- Same as above.
- What is with Special:AuctionTracker? How can I edit it?
- Same as above.
- What is with the Magelo pages? How does that work?
- Same as above. See Magelo Blue:Ravhin for an example of extended functionality.
Formatting Guidelines
Since this is a wiki, with a small editing community, feel free to make any changes you feel would be beneficial. Before you make a modification to a certain type of page (of which there are many) or start a new project and create a page (of which there will be many), commit to standardizing/completing that change. The existing formatting guidelines are below, but are always subject to change.
Zones
An example is The Crushbone Zone. For Related Quests I've only been putting in those quests starting in that particular zone. The template for the zone header box for outdoor/dungeon zones is:
Level of Monsters: | ... ... ... ... ... |
---|---|
Types of Monsters: | ... ... ... ... ... |
Notable NPC's: | ... ... ... ... ... |
Unique Items: | ... ... ... ... ... |
Related Quests: | ... ... ... ... ... |
Adjacent Zones: | ... ... ... ... ... |
Name in /who: | ... ... ... ... ... |
Zone Spawn Timer: | ... ... ... ... ... |
Succor/Evaduate: | ... ... ... ... ... |
ZEM Value: |
For cities the template for the header is:
City Races: | ... ... ... ... ... |
---|---|
Guilds: | ... ... ... ... ... |
Tradeskill Facilities: | ... ... ... ... ... |
Related Quests: | ... ... ... ... ... |
Adjacent Zones: | ... ... ... ... ... |
Succor/Evacuate: | ... ... ... ... ... |
Loc Mapping
Loc Mapping is a dynamic tool created by Loramin that allows you to be able to hover over a location to view a red X on the zone's map image.
(ie. The Hills In Qeynos
- Qeynos Hills )
This tool requires accurate zone coordinates on the image in order to display the location properly.
See Adding a Loc Map if you're interested in helping out with zones that are missing their loc mapping.
Class Pages
The below is the recommended layout for class pages, but over time and the addition of information, some class pages have drifted away from this format. Someone may want to consider reorganizing the existing class pages to be more standardized without losing useful information.
Proposed class page format:
- Description
- Creation Guide (Stats / Race / Religion)
- Spell List By Level
- Skill List (Specialization / Combat / Casting / Other)
- Class Specific Quests
- Class Gear Suggestions
- FAQ
Spells
Automatically generated based on pages on crys.org, lucy.alkabor.com and allakhazam.com. You can use Rav's Spell Util to add new spell pages following the Template:Spellpage. Can add additional information or comments under the description tag. For an example see Lull.
Most all player spells have been added, though you may want to add additional item effect / NPC related spells (use Rav's Util).
Note that "NPC Only Spell" also means "Item Only Spell".
Due to Cloudflare/DDOS protection software this utility might not work anymore. If it is not working for you, you may try copying from another similar page.
Items
It's important to stick to the format. Which, unfortunately, is quite complicated.
The best way to add an item is to:
- Create a link to it (from a quest page, zone page, NPC page, ...)
- Follow the link to the new, blank page
- Use Rav's ItemPage Util to generate the page contents
- Copy+paste the contents into the new page (may have to upload icon if it isn't already on the wiki)
- Review for any changes (typically, quest names are the only thing wrong/inconsistent with the wiki) and submit
Due to Cloudflare/DDOS protection software this utility might not work anymore. If it is not working for you, you may try copying from another similar page.
Misc Info
See the Template:Itempage and Template:Itembox. A prototypical example is Dragoon Dirk Item Page.
Class codes: BRD, CLR, DRU, ENC, MAG, MNK, NEC, PAL, RNG, ROG, SHM, SHD, WAR, WIZ
Item categories are:
- One for each SLOT / SKILL of the item. Examples are: Category:Chest, Category:Piercing, Category:Secondary.
- One for each allowed class. An example is: Category:Bard Equipment.
This allows us to see a list of all items for a particular class, or all items for a particular slot.
Note: Item effects (procs or right-clicks) should be normally linked. The scraper now does this automatically.
Item Hover Boxes
You can either make a normal wiki link to an item:
Dragoon Dirk produces the following link: Dragoon Dirk
Or, you can make a link with the following syntax, where mouseover pops up the stats box for that item:
produces the following link:
MAGIC ITEM LORE ITEM
Slot: RANGE PRIMARY SECONDARY
Skill: Piercing Atk Delay: 23
DMG: 6
DEX: +2
SV MAGIC: +3
WT: 2.5 Size: SMALL
Class: ALL except CLR PAL DRU MNK SHM
Race: ALL
Note: This works in tables, though not in mediawiki syntax bullet/numbered lists (using asterisks or pound symbols). Bad things happen when you try this! But, you can make this work in a list by using html tags for the list, i.e.
<ul><li> Item One </li><li> Item Two </li><li> </li></ul>
Note: The item hover boxes on Allakhazam are nice. They're based on javascript and fetching the target item pages dynamically. May try to change to this system in the future. Would be a lot of work though.
Named Mobs
See the Template:Namedmobpage. A prototypical example is Ambassador DVinn Named Mob Page.
We should keep 'a', 'an', 'The' prefixes. This will ensure consistency with data sources that are tied to actual DBs. These days prefix and capitalization conventions have not been strictly followed. However, if a mob page is made without its prefix or with a capitalization that differs from ingame (e.g. capitalizing each word), then make sure that variations of the page title REDIRECT to the newly made page, especially if there are any pre-existing inbound links.
Drop Frequency Labels | |
---|---|
"Always" | 100% |
"Common" | >= 50% |
"Uncommon" | >= 25% |
"Rare" | >= 5% |
"Ultra Rare" | < 5% |
Note: These are either best estimates or calculated directly from NPC loot tables, in which case the value is [Table #] (Table Multiplier) x (Table %) (Drop %). That is, the last three numbers multiplied together give the chance of that particular item dropping on any given kill.
Common flags for specials are: Summons, Enrages, Rampages, Flurries, Unslowable, Unmezable, Uncharmable, Unstunable, Unsnareable, Unfearable, Immune to Magic, Immune to Flee (won't flee at low health), Immune to Casting from Range (Bellycaster), Immune to Pacify, Ignore Root Aggro Rules, See Invis, See Hide
Adding Mobs
Adding mobs is the same as adding items. The template is slightly complicated, so best to use Rav's NamedMobPage Util to generate the initial page. Unfortunately, it is parsing more pages which are more complicated than for items, so mistakes are frequent. Please review before uploading!
Due to Cloudflare/DDOS protection software this utility might not work anymore. If it is not working for you, you may try copying from another similar page.
Raid Encounters (Mobs)
Raid encounters (high level, end game mobs) follow the same format as normal mobs. The only difference in the inclusion of the Category:Raid Encounters at the bottom.
And the description may contain extra information about strategy, special abilities, etc. An example is the Cazic Thule Raid Encounter Mob Page.
Images
The wiki (as with all Media Wikis) handles pictures slightly strangely.
Regular Pages
On a normal page, you have to add the code for the image, as if it existed, first:

You can also add details, like the size and whether you want it to the left or right of the text:

See [1] for further details of how you can control images.
Once you've added the image code, you can either preview or save, and you should see a red link where the image would be:
If you click the link, you'll be taken to a page where you can upload the image (please don't upload an image for that link, as it's just an example).
Template Pages
However, many pages on the site, such as item pages, mob page, and spell pages, use wiki "templates". To add images to a template page, you need to know how to do so for that template, and an easy way to figure that out is to look at a similar template page.
For instance, if you look at the mob page https://wiki.project1999.com/A_Gnoll_Brewer (and click "Edit"), you'll see the way monster pages get their images is with the following code:
| imagefilename = npc_a_gnoll_brewer.png
| second_image = gnoll_brewer_location.png
But the same idea applies if you're adding a new image to a template page: you add the image code first, then preview or save and use the red link to upload the file.
You can also set the width of the first image file name from the above example with a line such as the below (in pixels).
| width = 400px
Note: Add images where beneficial to others, the wiki is not a catwalk for your fashionquest.
Quests
A prototypical example is the Harvester Quest. The top of the page template is currently:
Starts In: | ... ... ... ... ... |
---|---|
Quest Giver: | ... ... ... ... ... |
Minimum Level: | ... ... ... ... ... |
Classes: | ... ... ... ... ... |
Related Zones: | ... ... ... ... ... |
Related NPCs: | ... ... ... ... ... |
After which the sections should be (in order): Reward, Dialogue. Then anything else unique to this quest.
The scraper now supports quests, you can use Rav's Quest Util.
Due to Cloudflare/DDOS protection software this utility might not work anymore. If it is not working for you, you may try copying from another similar page.
Factions
See a template at Template:Factionpage.
All factions have been added through Kunark so it is unlikely you'll need to add another. In any case the scraper generates these pages, based primarily on allakhazam data.
You can use Rav's FactionPage Util.
Due to Cloudflare/DDOS protection software this utility might not work anymore. If it is not working for you, you may try copying from another similar page.
Spells
See a template at Template:Spellpage.
Dynamic Zone Guides
There are special templates used on each of the zone pages to display NPCs and items found in that zone. These templates are "dynamic" in the sense that there is no list of NPCs/items kept anywhere in the wiki (on that page or otherwise). Instead, that page uses categories, so for instance if an item or NPC has
on it, it will appear on Najena's dynamic zone list.
These lists do not update immediately, so if you add a category to a page it may take a day or two before it appears in the dynamic zone list.
Marking Different Eras
The wiki also has a great number of templates which allow the display of various specialized type of content. These also use the and characters, but instead of a colon they use the template name.
Era Templates
For instance, to mark a page of content as belonging to the classic era, one can use the Classic Era
tag. To mark a piece of a page as belonging to the classic era, you can instead use Classic Era Inline
, which produces Classic Era.
There are templates for other eras, and all of these templates can be found in Category:Era Templates.
Problem Templates
Oftentimes the wiki needs to indicate that "there is something wrong here", and so the following templates can be used to do that.

Notice: This page was carbon-copied from Allakhazam. It is probably missing vital information.
It also may contain info which is incorrect for the Project 1999 Timeline. Please revise accordingly and then remove this message. |
Wiki Maintenance
To move a page, e.g. to follow capitalization conventions, just click "Move" at the top. Note that this creates a Redirect page at the old location (this is good, leave it).
For requests to delete pages, add the Delete tags. For lists of pages pending in this category, see:
Talk
Most users aren't familiar with how the wiki "talks" pages work, so this template can be used to remind them.
