Why I Quit Project 1999

I'm the jaded veteran.

I've done all content P99 will ever offer.

I've done all raids, crawled every dungeon & have played every class at level 60. There is nothing left for me to explore or experience. Been there, Done that.

I started playing P99 back in 2010.


Socializing has changed in the past decade+

People have changed, the way they view the world and what's acceptable. This makes it difficult to just enjoy everquest in a classic timeline. People were way different 1 decade ago and different from there 2 decades ago.

Blue was more classic than Green in this regard.


Character names are not original and violate the rules.

It's dumb af to group with people named Ibsmobs and healsrus. This is so not classic but it's become acceptable in today's mmo experience. People are not creative and this aspect ruins the world. I can't begin to imagine the type of real life person who decides to name their character something incredibly stupid and level it to 60.


Can't play class I want to play & Gear Shaming.

SSF gameplay and focusing on the class you want to play is shunned. People force you to roll an alt to farm plat. Otherwise they shame you for not having EC's bis gear. If I wanted to play a f-cking druid & sell my soul porting people for plat, I would, But I don't. I want to play the class I enjoy and participate without being shamed for not having BIS EC gear.


Discord program.

First DISCORD IS SPYWARE, it watches your computer processes and scans your drives. Furthermore all conversations are logged on discords server, So some company has a log of everything you have ever done on discord.

Second This is by far the least classic part of online gaming now a days. It cultivates the man child behaviour that video games shelter now. Forums are classic and have meaningful purpose. discord chat is nothing more than a glorified twitch chatroom for man children to spam. Forums build a community, discord encourages idiots.


Toxic raid scene

It hasn't gotten better since 2010 blue, it's only gotten worse. UN is not classic and is not a solution to the real problem that is the toxic raid scene on p99.

It's fun to FTE raid mobs but Elf Rule Lawyering is lame af. Zerg Guilds rule lawyer as an offensive tactic to spit on other guilds.


Green Split The Community

Before Green there was a strong community of players on blue. When green dropped it was exciting and fun but it split the community HARD. Some quit blue entirely, some stayed on blue entirely. All the friends i've made on blue where split between servers and playing different classes.


Sirken era of p99

After the sirken scandal p99 changed a lot. especially in the raid scene. Sirken use to communicate with guild leaders, (even if he lied to them sometimes). This was the par for the course, things that happened on p99 were expected and predicable. How rules were addressed became less predicable and in some cases more strict.

It was arguably a better p99 if you know what I'm talking about. Of course time and lack of knowledge will make people disagree with this.


No Red 2.0 / Teams PVP

Red was a fun server back in the day. Not getting a new pvp server was disappointing.


NSFW RNF

boobs and butts threads were removed from the p99 forums. You use to be able to post nudity on the p99 forums and not be banned.

This one may be hard to understand for most people. Let me sum it up though, the culture and community of p99 was different back then.


Selling Characters For Plat & Trading Between Servers

P99 use to allow characters to be sold for plat. This created an opportunity for people who were good at leveling characters to make some plat. And on the flip side those with lots of plat could buy a level 60 of their choice. Both people had to spend time on the server for leveling or plat farming.

Trading between Red and Blue encouraged activity on both servers. sadly cheaters ruined this for everyone.


No Long Term Friendships

The only people who mention me are sh-tposters who hate me on the forums. They use my username in derogatory ways, You can say I did this to myself but really, I didn't. I wasn't the worst person on the forums.

In game its different. I always put my best foot forwards in game and helped people. Sadly no matter how many people I helped or powerleveled, they all moved on.

I lived many lives

While Baler is my known alias, I had many level 60 characters and I was in many guilds with raid characters.

This made it difficult to consolidate the people who I enjoyed playing p99 with. To this day no single person knows every character I had on P99.

As such I had access to over 80 different game accounts, primarily level 60s & 52s and guild bots from many guilds.

This is what enabled me to get so much insider information on p99, I'd talk to guild leaders and officers who would tell me things nobody ever knew.

Only the people who I trusted the most, knew I was Baler.
