Corpse
NPCs which are killed by other NPCs, including charmed pets, do not leave corpses. Pets summoned by players also do not leave corpses. NPCs which despawn for reasons other than death do not leave corpses, either.

Corpse Decay Time
After a period of time, or when every item has been looted, a corpse will decay (despawn, poof, disappear). GMs also have the ability to remove corpses if they're spammed or cause some other problem.
To check how long a corpse has until it despawns, target the corpse and type /consider or use the consider command.
A player corpse resulting from a normal death (from an NPC attacker or killing themselves) will decay exactly 7 days after it was created, regardless of the player's level and regardless of whether they were online or offline during that time.
A normal NPC corpse with items on it will decay after 7.5 minutes.
The corpse of an NPC level 55 or higher will not decay until 30 minutes after death.
An empty NPC corpse with no items or coin that has not been touched will decay within 30 seconds.
Empty corpses usually decay instantly when the loot window is closed (by movement or clicking the close button), but player corpses may remain if the player disconnects or reloads their ui (/loads).
Rez timers
A normal player corpse can be resurrected only within the first 3 hours after death. This timer only ticks if the player (or any player on that same account) is online or on the character select screen of the corresponding account and server. This timer can also be checked with /consider.
A player corpse resulting from a duel can only be resurrected within the first 6 minutes after death. (It still takes seven days for it to decay).
NPCs cannot be rezzed, but they may respawn quickly in a way that resembles ressurection in some uncommon circumstances (such as the aviaks on aviak island in Plane of Sky or Lucan's skeleton form).
Finding corpses
To check if you have any corpses in a zone type /who corpse or /corpse. /who corpse will return a list of corpses which can be counted to know how many you need to find while /corpse has an error message if you don't have any in the zone.
Spells, songs and effects such as Locate Corpse can be used to point your character in the direction of the nearest corpse. If the caster targets themselves (or whoever has a corpse they want to find) they will be pointed to the closest corpse belonging to the target.
Dragging corpses
A player corpse can be dragged with the /corpse command. This will summon the corpse a short distance to the player's location. A player may consent other players to drag their corpses with /consent <name>. Necromancers, Shadow Knights, Bards and the Chipped Bone Rod may be used to locate lost corpses. Necromancers and Shadow Knights may cast a spell to summon a difficult-to-retrieve corpse over long distances within a zone. Extremely lost corpses due to bugs or unfair behavior may also be summoned by GMs.
When the game calculates the distance between the player and a corpse, it does not consider vertical distances (a.k.a. Z-axis). This means that you can drag a corpse which is any arbitrary distance above or below you, as long as it is close enough according to horizontal distance (X and Y loc numbers).
Line of sight is also not considered, so a corpse can be drug through walls, objects, and other zone geometry without obstruction.
It is possible to code a social macro to switch targets between several corpses and drag them with one keypress. This can be useful for dragging multiple corpses across long distances.
Looting corpses
At the time a player starts to loot a corpse by opening the loot window, all invis type spells are broken. If the player attempts to move forward, the loot window will close. Other players may cast invis and other spells on the looting player and they will retain those spells, even as they move items off the corpse into their inventory.
A player who has reduced Strength from Resurrection Effects should be careful not to loot too much before recovery, or they may be unable to move. It's a good idea to only loot essential items when rezzed, then drag the corpse with you and loot it later to retain your mobility in dangerous situations.
Player corpses may only be looted by that player on P99, regardless of use of /consent.
NPC corpses can only be looted by the player or group that killed the NPC, determined by the same proportional damage taken rules used for awarding credit for experience. After five minutes (on 30 minute corpses) and 2.5 minutes (on 7.5 minute corpses), the corpse becomes publicly lootable by anyone. This availability does NOT imply a player can circumvent loot ninja rules in the Play nice policy. Do not ever loot a corpse that doesn't belong to you unless you are certain you have permission to do so. It's probably a bad idea to peek at a corpse's contents as well, to prevent misunderstandings.
Corpses of NPCs subject to the /list system will only be lootable by the person designated by that system.
Corpse Dragging Aggro
This is a Velious mechanic only.
- Faction of corpse's player is NOT relevant. Dragging anyone's corpse, regardless of their faction with the mobs, in zones where this rule exists will generate aggro.
- Dragging your own corpse IS safe.
- Dragging someone else's corpse out of range of NPCs doesn't generate aggro. They must see you perform the dragging action in their aggro radius.
- Dragging someone else's corpse within range while invisible doesn't generate aggro unless the NPC can see through invisibility.
