The /consider command (or in most cases, right clicking) gives basic information about the relative experience level and faction standing of an NPC. It's a very important habit for newer players to /consider every NPC they engage in combat, especially early on when monsters vary considerably in difficulty and are mixed in placement.

In classic Everquest, only green, blue, white, yellow and red colors were implemented. Light blue was introduced in November 2001.

"High green" mobs gave partial exp in classic at some levels (example: for a Level 7 character, mobs level 4-6 would be blue, and a level 3 green mob would give no exp, but at higher character levels a green mob that was close to being blue range would give partial exp). Mobs which would later con "light blue" include all previous "high green" mobs that gave exp, plus a small extra range of mobs that previously wouldn't give exp. After the implementation of "light blue" it was still possible for the new "high green" level to give minor exp at some levels. Before the existence of "light blue", green mobs that gave experience had a different /con message than ones which didn't.

The formula for consider range from Level 14+ is as follows:

Level * .75, rounded down if the final number is less than x.51 (example: 30.5 = 30) = Blue con, 100% exp

Level * .66, rounded down if the final number is less than x.51 = light blue con, 50% exp

Level * .66, rounded in the same way, minus 1 level = "high green" con, 25% exp

Before level 13, mobs 1-3 levels lower have always been blue, and at level 13 the range increases to 4 levels lower.
