Commands
The following is a list of commands that can be used in game.
Custom Project 1999 Commands
/list
The List Command relates to a small few highly contested NPCs that drop "legacy" items that will be removed during the course of Green server.
/tell (Cross-Server)
In addition to its classic usage, the /tell command can also be used to make cross-server tells, by prepending the server name and a period (eg. /tell Blue.Bob
")
General Commands
/afk
Away From Keyboard. When activated, all /tells sent to you auto-respond with the message you provide. If no message is specified, you will replay with the default reply of "Sorry, I am A.F.K (Away From Keyboard) right now."

/anonymous (/anon)
Makes you anonymous in /who and /who all, preventing other players from seeing your class, level, current location and guild.

/a (toggle)
/assist
If you target a character who is engaged in combat, the /assist command automatically targets for you whoever that character is fighting at the moment and puts you in auto-attack mode (this can be changed in options.) This can be very useful in heavy combat.To be most effective, it is best to set this as a macro.

/assist <name> (doesn't require a target)
/assist <ON/OFF> - Toggles the autoattack function associated with the /assist function. The default of ON turns on your autoattack when you use /assist. If you type /assist off then autoattack will not start when you use /assist. This is one case where you must use the parameters on and off for this to work.
/attack
/attack <ON/OFF> - Toggles in and out of attack mode. This will put you in attack mode even if nothing is targeted. Be careful not to use this when near NPC's that you have targeted. By default, this is set to the "a" key. Care should also be taken when you are near an NPC that you have targeted not to hit the "a" key, as this may cause you to attack the NPC.

These are best used in macros with attack on auto-assist toggled off.
/auction
Allows you to broadcast items you wish to buy or sell. /auction is zone-wide. It is recommended that you only use /auction for buying and selling items, and use /ooc for anything unrelated to buying and selling.

/autoinventory
Automatically drops an item from your cursor to your inventory. If you have no space for it, it will drop to the ground

/autosplit
Automatically splits any coin loot you get from a corpse with the rest of your group. Each member that is looting must have this enabled to split all coin loot.

/book
Opens a page in your spellbook. Page 1 to 50.

/camp
Must be sitting.
Usage
/camp - Camps your character to character select screen.
/camp desktop - Camps to desktop (out of game entirely).
/cast
Allows you to cast any spell currently allocated to a spell gem. Useful for spell macros. You can hold tab to see what slots go to which spells.

/cast '1-8'
e.g.
/cast 1
Would cast the spell in the first spell gem slot.
/charinfo (/char)
Shows current bind location (zone).
Usage

/chatfontsize
Description
Increases the font size of a window from 0-6. (0 = smallest)

/chatfontsize [0-6]
- If a number outside this range is selected, the client will suggest [0-5] as an example usage but 6 does indeed work.
/clear
Clears the current chat window.
Usage

/consent
Gives the indicated player permission to drag your corpse.
Unlike in the original timeline, this command does not allow players to loot other players' corpses. (This nerf was patched in July 20, 2000 on live for CSR reasons, but was always the case on p99).

/consider (/con)
Gives vital statistics of a targeted PC or NPC, including their level in relation to yours and your faction standing.

How to interpret a consider message

Consider color
- If your target is green, they are considerably lower than your level. You will not get experience for killing a green NPC.
- If your target is light blue, they are barely high enough to pose a challenge. You will get a small amount of exp. This is NOT Classic for the Project 1999 Timeline.
- If your target is blue, they are lower level than you, but still good for exp.
- If your target is white, they are the same level as you.
- If your target is yellow, they are 1-2 levels above you.
- If your target is red, they are 3 or more levels above you.
Faction Standing

- If your target "scowls at you, ready to attack," you have very bad faction with the NPC and they will attack you on sight.
- If your target "glares at you threateningly," you have bad faction with the NPC and they will attack you on sight.
- If your target "glowers at you dubiously," they don't like you but won't attack. Dubious merchants will refuse to sell to you. You may not be able to begin quests.
- If your target "looks your way apprehensively," they don't like you somewhat and won't attack. You may not be able to begin quests.
- If your target "regards you indifferently," they neither like nor hate you.
- If your target "judges you amiably," then you have good faction with the target.
- If your target "kindly considers you," then you have very good faction with them.
- If your target "views you warmly," then you have great faction with them.
- If the target "regards you as an ally," then you have extremely great faction with them.
/corpse
Summons the character's corpse within a 50' radius of the character.

Allows you to decline a Duel.

/deny
Allows you to remove a players ability to drag your corpse.

/disband
Allows you to leave a group. If you are the group leader, it instead kicks the targeted player out of the group.

/doability
Executes an Ability. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10
Where 1-6 are on the Ability (A) tab of the Actions Window, and 7-10 are on the Combat (C) tab of the Actions Window.
The numbering for Abilities is top left as 1, top right as 2, middle left as 3, and so forth. For Combat, the Melee button and Range button do not count, so 7 would be the middle row left, and 8 would be middle row right, and so forth.

/duel
Challenges the targeted PC to a duel. To accept, type /d with yourself targeted as well. A duel is in effect until one "dies" (is knocked unconscious) or flees the zone.

/emote
Description
In general, the result is a message to all nearby characters saying "<your name> <text>." For example, if Soandso types /em falls asleep, the resulting message will be: Soandso falls asleep. However, it's more common to use a predefined emote, such as /clap or /dance.

/exit
Description
Forces your character to go link-dead and fully exits EverQuest. See also: /q
NOTE: Your character remains in-game and potentially vulnerable for ~1 minute after /exiting out. You will not be able to log back on to the same server and account until the character is "logged out". If your character is attacked, this period may be longer as it fights for its life.

Takes you to the feedback /comments screen. Not in use on p1999, use the forums.

/filter
Brings up the menu for filtering text boxes.

/follow
When you use this command while targeting another player in your group, you will automatically follow the targeted character.
Besides using this command to follow players over long distances, you can also use it to locate nearby players (i.e. /target Someguy, /follow Someguy will quickly face and approach your character to a person in a large raid you want to trade or interact with).
WARNING: Be careful using this around ledges, lava, etc. You'll probably regret it.

Without parameters: Lists the characters on your friend's list.
With a name: Adds character to your friend's list.

/g
Sends the text to everyone in your group.
Usage
/gsay <text> or /g <text>
/gems
Opens the window to play the mini-game "Gems". It is a tile-matching puzzle game much like Tetris or KLAX. While the window is open, players should be aware that they are still vulnerable to being attacked by NPCs and other events in the world, no matter how addicted to Gems they become.
The feature was added in a March 6, 2001 patch. According to an interview with Todd Schmidt, it was developed by Steve Clover in his spare time [1].
/get
Gets the current message of the day
/gu
Short for guildsay, this sends a text to everyone in your guild.

/help
Gives you a list of commands.
Usage
The following is taken directly from ingame:
Format: /help <class> is one of normal, emote, or guild. Normal will display a list of all commands. Emote will display a list of all player emotes. Guild will display a list of guild commands. Voice will display a list of voice control commands. Chat will display a list of chat channel commands.

/hidecorpse
Controls the visibility of corpses to the player.
Format: /hidecorpse <parameter>
Parameters:
- ALL - hides all but the player's corpses, including NPCs
- ALLBUTGROUP - hides all but the player's group's corpses, including NPCs
- LOOTED - hides any corpse you loot immediately after closing the loot window (except your own)
- NONE - reveals all corpses
/hotbutton
Creates a macro to be placed on one of your hotkeys. Edit it by right-clicking it (you can also right-click your Social presets, such as Afk and Anon).

/ignore
Filters all communications from the ignored player when followed by a players name. The ignored player can see the ignorers messages.
When used without a players name following the command, it will produce a list of all currently ignored players.

Turns on and off LFG tag in name to help others know you are seeking a party.
/list

/load
Change the UI "skin" in game. /load without arguments will open a window with the options available, corresponding to the subfolders included in ~\EverQuest\uifiles\. The default installation includes the subfolders:
- default
- default_old
- velious
The /load command may also be used to load a UI choice directly by supplying the folder name as an argument: e.g. /load velious.
- /load may also be used to preserve your empty corpse (for resurrection, for example) if you have looted everything from it but have not yet closed the loot window.
/loc
To get your coordinate location in your current zone, type "/loc" or simply "/l". The resulting set of numbers is in the form of (y, x, z).
- y: North (positive) and South (negative)
- x: West (positive) and East (negative)
- z: Up (positive) and Down (negative)
Note: The z coordinate often won't be needed, and is therefore not used in many cases.
Example: If you are at (200, 500) and you need to get to (-1300, 400), you must travel South and slightly to the East.
/log
Turns logging for current character to local text file on or off.

/loot
Opens the loot window for the targeted corpse.
/makeleader
Used to set a person within a group to the group leader, thus giving them the option to invite players to the group. Only the current group leader can use this command.

/mp3
Format: /mp3 { add <filename.mp3 or .m3u> | play [#] | pause | count | list | clear [#] | shuffle | ordered }
Example: /mp3 add C:\Users\jglenn\Music\Pink Floyd\The Dark Side of the Moon\05 Money.mp3
/note
This command opens up a window where you can take notes. The notes are saved even when you log off.
/ooc
Speaks in the "Out of Character" (OOC) channel. OOC is typically used for chat that is non-game related (like chatting with your fellow adventurers), but this isn't always strictly enforced. OOC is zone-wide. Note that you can also set your chat window to default to speak in this channel, in which case you don't need the /ooc but can just start typing.

/ooc EQ is the best eva! <Will send a message to the entire zone in the OOC channel saying "EQ is the best eva!">
/ooc 30 War LFG <Will send a message to the entire zone in the OOC channel saying "30 War LFG">
/outputfile
Prints out a list of items/spells your character has. Replace fileName in the following example with your character's name or any other memorable word so that you can find the file easier. The text document will be created in your EverQuest directory as fileName.txt. You will find a list in the text document of all items that character has in his inventory as well as their bank; or if you used the spellbook switch, a list of all spells the character has scribed in the spellbook. Other parameters were implemented on live but are either not relevant or aren't usable on p99.

/pause
Pauses a macro sequence for 100 * x milliseconds.

Send a request for immediate online assistance to the GMs. Please read https://www.project1999.com/forums/announcement.php?f=25 for info regarding what should be petitioned online versus in game.

/played
Shows characters creation date, total play time, current session play time, and veteran reward entitlement.
On P99, the creation date is accurate but the total played time seems to be bugged.

Description
Forces your character to go link-dead and quits to the main menu of EverQuest. See also: /exit

/random
Rolls a random number. Note that "/rand" works as well. This is often used to determine looting, but it can be for anything.

/random [X] [Y]
X = minimum inclusive limit or floor of the range
Y = maximum inclusive limit or ceiling of the range
Note: Both X and Y are optional. If neither limits are specified, the roll is 0 to 100. If one is specified, the roll is 0 to that number. If both are specified, the number is between the two numbers. Players on P99 most often use the default /random for loot without limit specification. If limits are specified, it's good practice to be communicated before the roll commences to avoid confusion.

/rand 4 9 <rolls 4 to 9>
/reply
This command is used like /tell, but instead sends the message to the last player who sent you a /tell or /reply. As such, it does not require a recipient to be specified. A frequent source of mistells when players receive tells from another player while staring at their keyboard trying to type.
/rewind
Specific to EQEmu servers. Allows a character to revert back to a last map location (within a few feet). Must often be repeatedly used (spammed) to accomplish. Useful for stuck characters.
/roleplay
Changes your name to purple, and hides your class and level from /who, but shows guild tag.

/rt
Targets the last person to send you a /tell. Excellent command for buff-bots which saves them from manual targeting buff recipients.
/shout
This messages every player in the zone, just like /ooc or /auction. Since shouts default to red-text, many players expect these messages to be urgent or important and prefer general chat in /ooc or /say.
/shownames
Changes the way player names are displayed above characters.

/split
Splits held money between group members.

/stopsong
Stops any song you are currently playing (for Bard class only).

/surname
Sets your last name. You must be at least level 20 for surname to work. You can only issue this command once, so choose wisely.

/target
/tar
Targets a player. Can be useful in EC tunnel when trying to find someone if he/she is in range (targeted player's name will blink). It can also be useful to target a corpse you cant find and dragging it towards you.

/targetgroupbuff
/targetgroupbuff on
Allows you to cast group buffs on other groups or individuals you are not grouped with.
Also you can switch targets while casting 50+ group buffs and it will allow you to cast them onto lower levels than normal.
/tell
Sends a private message to player.
/tell playername text>
/t playername text
To send a private message to a player on another server, you can prepend their name with their server name:
/tell blue.playername text

/time
Shows Norrath time and date, and real life dates and times according to your computer clock. (time is in military time format)
/tgb

Description
Enables or disables right-click inspection of yourself or others.

Defines the area of the screen to be used for displaying the game world.

/who all </who zone name> i.e. /who all guktop to see what players are currently in Upper Guk. Every zone page on the wiki should have the "/who name" listed. This command will not list any players if all the players in the zone are Anonymous/Roleplaying, and will say that "There are no players that match that filter" as if you had typed it wrong. However, if one person in the zone isn't anonymous, it will list all players normally. Could potentially be very useful to check an area for players before going to the location beforehand.
/who corpse (shows a {hopefully empty} list of your corpses)

Enabling and Disabling Windows
Each window in full screen mode can be enabled or disabled for viewing by engaging the customizable hot-key combination for that feature and window. Please Note: Generally pressing escape (Esc Key) will close a window.

P Opens up the in game customer service window, allows you to make petition as well as search for common problems (like the /petition command).

Targeting Function Keys
The following are the 8 different function keys, that allow you to target players and non-players quickly.
F1 Selects yourself. F2 Selects the first person in your Party Window. F3 Selects the second person in your Party Window. F4 Selects the third person in your Party Window. F5 Selects the forth person in your Party Window. F6 Selects the fifth person in your Party Window. F7 Selects the nearest Player Character. F8 Selects the nearest Non-Player Character.
Miscellaneous Command Keys
D Makes you duck (/duck), handy for moving through small spaces. Will interrupt your spells after the June 27, 2001 (Velious) era patch. F9 This allows you to cycle through various camera views. F10 This allows you to toggle the interface on and off (turning off the interface makes for cleaner screenshots). F11 Toggles the ping bar off and off (little green thing in corner with numbers!) F12 Toggles between enabling and disabling mouse panning. H Pressing "H" will Hail the player or non-player character you have in your Target Window. Useful for starting conversations with NPCs, for quests, etc. Q Pressing "Q" will initiate the auto-attack command (shortcut for the /attack on command). Be careful when typing, as you could press this in the wrong mode and attack a NPC which you will not beat! R Pressing "R" will allow you to reply the the last /tell you received. Basically a quick shortcut for the /reply command. - The minus (-) key on the number keypad allows you to take a screenshot. The format of the resulting image file can be changed in your EQclient.ini file - see EQclient.ini for further information
Camera Controls
You can pan the camera in different directions, either with the keyboard (press Alt + the arrow keys) or by right-clicking the mouse. To pan with the mouse, right-click-and-drag in any direction (this works in all views except for fixed overhead and rear views – in these, the mouse zooms the view in and out).
First-person view (default) View straight ahead (you can't see your character). Overhead (rotating) View from above (camera rotates as you turn). Rear (rotating) View from rear (camera rotates as you turn and stays behind you). Overhead (fixed) View from above (camera does not rotate when you turn). Rear (fixed) View from rear (camera does not rotate when you turn). Camera Views During gameplay you can view your character from several different camera angles, zoom in and out, or pan up and down.
To cycle between available views, press F9.

Emotes
Emotes produce a line of text in chat that add flavor to the game. Some make your character pantomime an action. Emotes can be "heard" by other players within /say range.
