Skins

I don't know much about mediawiki skins but if you make one I will upload it so that you/anyone can select it under "my preferences." Keep in mind Special:Version maybe skinning has changed since 1.16. --Ravhin 13:39, 15 July 2011 (UTC)

Faction Pages

I'm working on a script to automatically add the individual faction pages (about 225 of them), so don't waste too much time working on them for now.

I've been working on Priests of Life as a template to follow, but I do also like the more basic Carson McCabe for instance.

If you want to make any changes to the way Priests of Life looks before I make them all that way go ahead. --Ravhin 16:09, 14 July 2011 (UTC)

Nah, I actually like the way the Priests of Life one looks. My Carson McCabe one was based off the blank templates that were there by whoever created the few that were there before. Have at it! --Xxtayce

Adding Items

Items on the wiki aren't image based, in order that they can be searchable, etc.

You can add them by following a red link to an item page with the correct name, then pasting in the page contents following the existing format.

The complete page contents can be autogenerated using this utility (linked on the main page).

But, I would recommend against adding any Velious items until much closer to when it would launch. If you add them now they will show up in the various items categories / class equipment pages. I think the wiki is more useful not filled with Velious stuff which doesn't exist yet. But that's just my recommendation, up to you! --Ravhin 15:59, 14 July 2011 (UTC)

_____________

I'll hold off on creating the actual items, then. I wanted to get the quests in now, since they're all tradeskill based and it takes forever and a day to build up tradeskills. /sigh --Xxtayce

CSS and Formatting

Hey your work with quests is really nice. What do you think of my changes in Note for Janam.

For consistency and easy of updates, style/formatting should really either be in Mediawiki:Common.css and use a div with class="blah". Or, use a template like Template:KunarkGray which just wraps the style.

Either way then we can update all pages using that style in the future without editing each individually. Don't worry if you don't want to do this though I'm happy to do a little cleanup after you put in the excellent content. --Ravhin 16:03, 12 July 2011 (UTC)

Not fond of my CSS, eh? Very well ;) --Xxtayce 19:31, 12 July 2011 (UTC)

Faction Guide

Hey, thanks for your contributions, they look great. I added a link to the "faction guide" on the mainpage. Perhaps all it needs to be a comprehensive "guide" is a short section/FAQ about what faction is, how it works, it's importance in quests, etc. Perhaps the non-technical aspects of Game_Mechanics#Faction_System_and_Levels could be incorporated somewhat.

Let me know if you have any other suggestions. --Ravhin 19:05, 7 July 2011 (UTC)

I had thought of it more of an overall guide as opposed to an exhaustive list of faction related details. Pages for individual factions (for ex Priests of Life) is a slightly stalled project but I just need to figure out a few things then can finish that, in order to crosslink all factions with zones, quests, and mobs. And the color table is sweet. --Ravhin 20:54, 7 July 2011 (UTC)

Just two more comments I noticed:

1. I'm always worried about duplication. Here in particular, all the quest content. For example the Muffin for Pandos quest already exists, though not quite as nicely formatted as in your page. Can I suggest that either you just link to the quest page for each quest, or else you can "transclude" them like the following (see wiki code):

Muffins can be bought in West Freeport from Pincia Brownloe (-276, -698).

Note: If Lady Shae is not KoS to you, then it is possible to do this quest at any faction with Pandos as long as you have the ability to go invisible or hide. Cast invisbility and make your way into Lady Shaes' room. If you stand in the corner of Lady Shaes' room at Loc (-206.42, -507.30, -10.87), Pandos will not aggro you no matter what level you are. By opening the door, you can then hand him 1 muffin. The give box will then come up, and the door can close but you will still be able to put more muffins into the slots. Once all four slots have been filled with muffins, you can then cast invisibility on yourself, or activate the hide ability. Con Pandos, and make sure that he is indifferent to you. When he is, press the give button.

If you make the mistake of moving from the corner, Pandos will most likely attack you. Be careful, and happy factioning!

Pandos Flintside may be found at +100, -615 in the Hogcaller's Inn.

You say, 'Hail, Pandos Flintside'

Pandos Flintside says 'Greetings! Please move along. I am not paid to converse with strangers... unless of course you have a muffin or two..?'

Give him a Muffin.

Pandos Flintside says 'Mmmm. This smells delicious. Oh great!! No milk!! Don't you have any sense?! Just tell me the name of the bakery and I will run and get it myself. I am sure Lady Shae will be safe.'

You gain experience!!

If you tell him you got the muffins at the Brownloe bakery, he'll go there. As soon as he leaves, this ward comes out and will talk to you. This dovetails into the Hogcaller's Inn Quest.

2. I'm also avoiding external links except as references (specifically to alla). If the information is p99 classic then it's better to move it to the wiki where it should go, and link it locally. For instance my little edit all the zone maps are already here. --Ravhin 21:07, 7 July 2011 (UTC)

Is there a 'general info on wiki'ing' kind of thing here? I don't want to make you do double work editing my stuff because of things I didn't know previously. I've been googling when I need to learn how to wiki something and I'm sure there's tons of stuff I've missed or things that don't exist on our wiki. Link on main page for it would be awesome :) Was planning to link to factions tomorrow, but if you wanna redo a whole faction guide, should I wait? --Xxtayce 22:03, 7 July 2011 (UTC)
