Welcome
And thanks for your additions (looks good), little corrections and additions are what make this wiki a really invaluable resource! --Ravhin 18:58, 24 November 2012 (UTC)
Making Edits
Trial and error is fine, that's how I started too, just using the "Show preview" button lots. Let me answer your questions:
1. If you find a quest, mob, item, etc that you are sure isn't classic and will never exist on p1999 you can erase that page and replace it with a "Does Not Exist" tag, and a short explanation. An example is here: Phosphorous Powder.
2. If it's something that doesn't exist now but will after Velious is released, you can tag that, for example: Jeldorin.
3. The "DynamicZoneList" is fairly complex part of the wiki I added. In short, putting that label somewhere causes the wiki software to automatically replace it with the three tables of mobs, items, and quests it thinks spawn, drop, or start in that zone. It does this by looking at pages in the zone's Category. For instance here: Category:Halas. If there is something there that doesn't belong, then you should edit that page and fix/remove the Category line at the bottom. Then, it will automatically disappear from the "DynamicZoneList" tables. If something should be added then just add it as normal and it will appear in the tables.
4. To add something, in general, you should first try to use this page: http://www.destinati.com/project1999wiki/wikiUtils.php . Often it produces a page which is complete and ready. Sometimes it fails badly, in which case the best idea is to copy an existing page (that is similar to the one you want to add) and modify it.
Let me know if you have any more questions. --Ravhin 17:38, 25 November 2012 (UTC)
Potential Quest Bugs
Hi, I think it is extremely useful to have such information on quest pages. You should certainly add comments at the top or bottom (make them italic or somesuch) indicating your personal experience with the quest, why you think the faction changes might not make sense, etc.
To actually get these types of problems fixed you will have to post on the bugs forum. But it's my experience that the p99 devs will only change/fix something like this if you can show (via researching old internet pages for example) that it did actually work in classic as you think it should/did.
That is, some things which are "wrong" on p99 are intentionally so because that's how they always were on classic live. --Ravhin 15:29, 28 November 2012 (UTC)
"Primary Faction"
Hi, I changed Rohand's Brandy a bit (put it as its own row in the header box). What do you think? Either that or in parenthesis after the "Quest Giver" is fine with me. My main question is -- how do you know this information? Is there somewhere it can be found? (I see there isn't any indication of it on allakhazam). Likewise for the faction changes from quests.
I'm all for basically any improvement (more information) but it's nice to keep pages consistent, i.e. adding this "Primary Faction" to every quest. --Ravhin 15:15, 5 December 2012 (UTC)
Do you want to add primary factions for NPCs like I did for Captain Rohand or somewhere else on the page? --Ravhin 21:27, 15 December 2012 (UTC)
Admin
You've obviously got a good handle on the wiki and its ideas - I've made you an administrator. Not sure if it means anything other than you can delete pages / edit the main page. --Ravhin 00:20, 27 December 2012 (UTC)
