Walkthrough

Note: This is extremely difficult faction-wise for anyone other than a Dark Elf Necromancer, Shadow Knight or Cleric (must have amiable faction with The Dead, the dark elf necromancer and shadow knight guild). An enchanter can charm Kizdean for the note, however the final turn in NPC cannot be charmed. Raising The Dead faction is possible (if tedious) by killing high elf or gnome casters from Eldritch Collective or Keepers of the Art such as Linara Parlone or Retlon Brenclog. Dark elf form or Guise of the Deceiver will also help. Faction can potentially be bypassed as both the Thex Mallet and Reaper of the Dead are tradable.

UPDATE: I Esquite, Dark Elven Enchanter of the 30th order, was able to achieve amiable faction with The Dead while using Benevolence on them (+200 faction) by killing Retlon Brenclog 37 times and the two High Elf Slaves that spawn near him and also give positive faction for The Dead 29 times. Then I killed Linara Parlone 6-7 times. Beware of Linara, she is tougher than she seems, but do not fear

You say, 'I am interested in your appointed tasks.'

Loveal S`Nez says 'Very well. You have gained the appropriate power. I require you to journey to the Commonlands and seek out Kizdean Gix. He is a member of a very important force. Tell him 'Utalk Adarev Otcin'. Remember this password.'

You say, 'What is the Thex Mallet?'

Loveal S`Nez says 'All you can know is that the Thex Mallet is desired by our Queen. If we are not successful in its retrieval, it will be our heads which adorn her trophy room. We have learned its location and believe it to be broken into three separate pieces.'

You say, 'Who is Queen Cristanos Thex?'

Loveal S`Nez says 'The Queen of the Teir'Dal is the most powerful of all. It is she who should sit on the throne and not King Naythox. The Dead are her humble servants. We await the day when she shall finally take her rightful position as ruler of Neriak.'

You say, 'Who is King Naythox Thex?'

Loveal S`Nez says 'A competent and powerful warrior, but a warrior nonetheless. He has suppressed the true glory of the Teir'Dal. Perhaps it is time for a new ruler of Neriak.'

Travel now to the West Commonlands and find Kizdean Gix near the tollbooth.

You say, 'Hail, Kizdean Gix'

Kizdean Gix says 'If you have business then out with it!! If not, then please be gone. I have little time to waste on chitchat!'

You say, 'Utalk Adarev Otcin.' (Only indifferent faction is required for this step)(Did not work with indifferent faction on an agnostic Dark Elf Warrior)

Trivia note: This is "klatu verada nicto" backwards, a reference to "klaatu barada nikto"[2].

Kizdean Gix says 'You speak the words of the Dead. You must be the assistance Loveal was to send. You must work quickly! Inside Befallen are the three pieces to the Thex Mallet which are to be returned to Loveal. Find Hubard L'rodd. He was my assistant. Give him this note and he should have information.'

You receive A Tattered Cloth Note. This note is Lore/No Trade.

You say, 'Thex Mallet?'

Kizdean Gix says, 'The Thex Mallet is a very special weapon of elven creation. It is as ancient as Norrath itself. Queen Cristanos commands that we find it and return it to Loveal S'nez. That is all you need to know.'

Travel to Befallen. Inside, near the well, you will find Skeleton Lrodd who is a guaranteed spawn and indifferent to all players. Give him the note.

skeleton Lrodd says 'Search!! Find Windstream. Find the mallet!! One. Two. Three.'

Handing in the note will spawn Cmdr Windstream on level 3. He spawns on the chair/throne just through the invisible wall. Kill him, and he will drop the "Mallet Stem."

Cmdr Windstream and the other Befallen necromancers are on Burning Dead faction.

The An Elf Skeleton is located on the same floor as Cmdr Windstream. Coming from the bottom of the well, the elf skeleton is just on the other side of the fake wall and to the left, next to the spikes near the hanging dwarf torso. If you're coming down from the zone in, it's beyond the second locked door at the bottom of the broken staircase. It will drop the Mallet Head, Mallet Hilt or neither. When you have both, put the Mallet Head and Mallet Hilt inside the Mallet Stem and hit Combine. This will complete the Thex Mallet. An Elf Skeleton has a 6:40 respawn time.

Journey back to Neriak 3rd Gate and give the mallet to Loveal S`Nez.

Loveal S`Nez says 'Oh how grand it is!! Look at it!! I feel the power trembling within. Who would have thought such an item would be abandoned? You have performed supremely. Queen Cristanos shall reward me greatly and I shall reward you greatly. Here is my weapon from years past.. the Reaper of the Dead. I believe it has one soul still trapped within.'
