The Velium Keg
Situated in the north eastern corner of Thurgadin among the Coldain wolf trainers and supply merchants, The Velium Keg is the cities premier brewery! Drawing in quite the crowd of citizens, adventurers, and warriors alike, this large space is home to an endless supply of your typical dwarven shenanigans and camaraderie. Approaching the building (depending on the time of day), one of the first things you'll notice is a booming drum rhythm and ragtime piano notes being emitted from within. The soundtrack here is definitely one of the most lively in all of Norrath. More on that later, though.
Up front there's an expansive bar tended to by the Bartleby's and plenty of seating to accommodate the drinking of their very own Velium Keg Stout. You'll find the lovely Denise and Belinda meandering about taking drink orders and collecting empties.
At the back of the room and down a few steps opens up to the brewery portion of the bar. Not only is there a second equally large service bar, but also an active brew kettle and three giant velium carved fermentation tanks! Grimthor Brewbeard, presumably the brewmaster here, idles silently behind the bar with his excellent surname, speaking only to those coming to him for rune-making advice. Brewing enthusiasts can turn to Celtir Gronback however, selling both a small selection of drinks and some basic brewing ingredients.
There's also a generously sized dining table to host even the largest fellowship of brews. A fine collection of Coldain warriors can usually be seen gathered around sipping ales and discussing tales of battle.
Going back to the soundtrack, one quite interesting note about The Velium Keg is it's soundtrack. There are actually multiple songs that play in the bar. Most of the time it's a more up-beat cantina sounding tune with prominent drums, piano, and woodwinds/horns, but occasionally it switches to a much slower song more traditional in other parts of Norrath. Both songs are definitely isolated to the bar, as they quickly fade away when you leave the door and there's no other city-wide song played in Thurgadin. Perhaps based on time of day or perhaps random, hang around here long enough and you'll experience the ambiance of both songs.
