Classic Faction 1.0 vs. Velious Faction 2.0
There is a lot of confusion about current faction on P99 Blue. This page needs fixing, and probably two sections split-out: Classic Faction & Velious Era Faction. See https://www.project1999.org/forums/showthread.php?p=934050 for more info. Maximum 16:41, 25 April 2013 (UTC)

"Ally" release date
------------------------------ May 8, 2001 3:00 am ------------------------------ - There is a new /consider message: "regards you as an ally". This is the highest level of friendliness that an NPC will register using the /consider command. The faction required to reach this rating is significantly higher than 'warmly'.

Raising Iksar Faction on Project 1999
Project 1999 (P99) doesn't appear to use any of the faction ranges from Classic EQ.
On P99, as an agnostic dark elf enchanter, I had to kill between 441 and 468 Warslilks Woods goblins to go from killed on sight (KOS) to threatening to Trooper Walrun. If I had to guess, I'd say that actual value was 450 or 451. In order to get to dubious I had to kill a total of 801.
If you subtract 450/451 from 801 you end up with approximately 350 kills to get from KOS to threatening. As you can see from the tables, this should not be. It should have only taken 250 kills. This is a clear indication that P99 uses it own custom faction ranges that don't match Classic EQ.

Faction on Live October 2014
I wanted to preserve a post by Zliz (10-27-2014, 04:54 PM) from the Project 1999 forums before it gets aged off. The post goes to the heart of the matter that faction ranges have pretty much never changed in the game since release (at which time they were hard coded in the executable).
The Live EQ (as of October 2014) column in the table is a result of Zliz's research.
The one thing to note, is that at some point the boundary between warmly and ally changed from 1100 to 989 on Live. This shouldn't come as a surprise to people that know their EQ history. The change appears to be an easter egg that was later introduced into the game, perhaps around one of the anniversary dates. EQ was originally developed by 989 Studios.
Here is Zliz's post:
So, I did some testing today. Here's the background:
Human Monk following Quellious.
I started out killing guards in North Qeynos until I got the message "Your faction standing with Guards of Qeynos could not possibly get any worse."
I then proceeded to do the quest Bone Chips for Lashun Novashine, where each turn-in of 2 Bone Chips gives +1 faction adjustment to Guards of Qeynos. I took it in baby steps and took note of the amount of +1's until I was raised a tier of faction with the guards. Here are the numbers:
from max scowling to precisely threatening: 1240 points
from threateningly to dubious: 250 points
from dubious to apprehensive: 400
from apprehensive to indiff: 100
from indiff to amiably: 100
from amiably to kindly: 400
from kindly to warmly: 250
from warmly to ally: 240
from ally to maxed out: 1020
The total faction range is 4000 points. Getting from max scowling to precisely indiff takes 1990 points.
Now you might ask WTF this has to do with Project1999? Well, there are a few things to consider:
1) It is likely that such a core mechanic of EQ as faction has been untouched since Velious where the ally range was introduced.
2) In addition to 1), it is possible that ally was just tacked on, and that anything from scowling to warmly was left as it was since classic.
3) The numbers in the right-hand table on the Faction Wiki page match my numbers very closely, only being off by between 50 and 100 points in certain ranges.
Ultimately I would just be happy of a P1999 developer could either spill the beans of the state of P1999, or perhaps take my testing into consideration for possible future patching, if the numbers don't match.
I would also like to hear if any other players have comments, or perhaps would like to do a Live test themselves (or even better a P99 test, but that will of course be a ton more time intensive). The easiest way of testing "Live" is to use the Test server (it's a copy of Live just a patch ahead), where you can go nuts in copying and endless platinum.

transclusion bug?
The #lsth directive is no longer transcluding subsections correctly. Anyone know what's going on with it or how to debug it? I'm afraid it is some php voodoo that only the site owner can investigate, but he is missing in action.

Page overdue for an overhaul
There's a lot on this page that is no longer accurate, and a lot of extraneous information. It needs an overhaul, but it also makes sense to preserve some of the detail for posterity. Perhaps in a different page?

Live faction modifiers
Below are the faction modifiers by race, class and deity for each faction (derived from live):

Note the values used in p1999 don't exactly match these. Eldrath (talk) 23:04, 3 October 2019 (UTC)
Other Mechanics
In the Other Mechanics section, it states: "Sitting negates faction and level advantages to avoid aggro." but this is incorrect because if you are or are not kos, sitting won't change that. Kollins (talk) 19:08, 7 August 2020 (UTC)
