Confirmed, this was spot on. Got him to pop after 2 PHs. I confirmed that he spawns both day and night. I've never seen him drop anything but the rusty bastard sword and cyclops skull. I don't think Dareb's skull drops from him.

Camped him a bit. Saw 3 placeholders and him 5 times. Dropped 4 Cyclops skulls and finally 1 Dareb's Skull. -- December 31, 2014
