Walkthrough

You must be amiable faction or higher with Enic Ruklin to do this quest.

Enic Ruklin may be found at the Temple of Life roaming around the pool.

You say, 'Hail, Enic Ruklin'

Enic Ruklin says 'Hail! These are the sacred grounds of the Temple of Life. Please do not cause any disturbances while on our grounds. I would hate to have to hurt you. In the name of Rodcet Nife, of course. Now excuse me, I have a [problem] to attend to.'

You say, 'What problem?'

Enic Ruklin says 'I have been charged with the duty of protecting the [Pool of Jahnda] and its fish. Now it seems as though a beast by the name of [Frostbite] has slurped up another one of the sacred fish, the [Koalindl]. If I do not get the little corpse of this fish back, I could be in trouble. Any respected member of this temple who aids me will be rewarded greatly.'

You say, 'What about the Pool of Jahnda?'

Enic Ruklin says 'The Pool of Jahnda is not meant for public use. It is a sacred pool created for the [Koalindl]. They say that, every so often, the Prime Healer visits our plane in the guise of a Koalindl. He swims in our pool.'

You say, 'What are the Koalindl?'

Enic Ruklin says 'The fish called Koalindl were a gift to Priestess Jahnda from the Prime Healer. They come from the plane of health. To kill one Koalindl is to bring the wrath of Rodcet Nife and the Priests of Life down upon you.'

You say, 'What about Frostbite?'

Enic Ruklin says 'Frostbite is a dog. He belongs to some barbarian who visits the city every so often. I know not where they are from. I cannot see them coming from Halas. Their visits are too frequent.'

Frostbite can be found at the Barbarian fishing village in West Karana. Watch out! Ulrich McMannus is very fond of the mutt and will attack if he sees you harming Frostbite. Killing him causes severe faction drops with several barbarian factions. (Confirmed that Frostbite drops the fish on both Green and Blue)

Alternatives to killing

There are two other ways to get the fish corpse. You can also complete this quest by killing Koalindl fish yourself or through a newbie mule character (which is the better method), taking the severe faction hit, getting killed by the guard, and turning in the fish corpse to Ruklin.

Regurg

Or you can do The Regurgitonic quest in Ak'Anon and feed Frostbite the Regurgitonic, which will cause him to cough up the fish corpse with no loss of faction.

  • As of November 20th 2019 Frostbite does NOT cough up the fish every time. Out of 8 turn in's the fish was provided 5 of those times. Gnome Agnostic Enchanter doing turn in. (Note 6/17/21 - This is because sometimes Kimble gives you a 'Bad Regurgitonic'. Identify will tell you the item lore and let you know if you got a bad one.)

Frostbite spits something into your hand.

You gain experience!!

You receive a Koalindl Fish.

Turn-in

The faction for this turn in massive. I went from a couple points into amiable to Kindly in 3 turn ins. 5 to get ally on an Iksar Monk. (11/2018)

Enic Ruklin says, 'Thank you my friend!! Every Koalindl must be accounted for, even the dead. Rodcet Nife shall be pleased and I shall reward you. Nothing much, just a small token of gratitude.'

You gain experience!!
