Welcome

Welcome to Felwithe, home of the Koada`Dal the closest relatives of the original Norrathian Elves created by Tunare, Mother of All. The city is made up of 2 zones North, and South. The northern area has the bank and most of the shopping and trades area, also the Paladin and Cleric guilds. The south is where the scholarly casters go to train and learn their skills. The surrounding Greater Faydark is a great hunting ground for newbies with no loading screens, further North is the city of Kelethin a city in the trees.

Where/What to Hunt

Directly outside the gates of Felwithe in Greater Faydark roams many low level things to hunt. You should see wolves, skeletons, bats and wasps. Avoid the orcs and spiders at first, but most things should be either safe for or indifferent to newbies.

I would suggest hunting bats until comfortable with combat. Then switch to wasps if you can get solo. Sell everything once out of inventory slots. Then go sell and buy 1 backpack. Repeat until you have enough to buy second backpack. Then, adventure out and try slaying other things. A 3rd back pack is not needed, and you will want to start saving for your spells. Sticking to fighting a single type of creature will help with inventory slots at the start.

  • Bats
    • easiest to kill
      • wings per 4 for quest, can be saved for Spell Research, or Baking
      • bat fur to $$ to merchant
      • no money
  • wolves
    • next easiest to kill
      • chunk of meat for Baking, or $ to merchant
      • wolf meat for Baking, or $ to merchant
      • low quality wolf skin, $ to merchant or use for Tailoring
      • medium quality wolf skin, $$ to merchant or use for Tailoring
      • high quality wolf skin, $$$ to merchant or use for Tailoring or $$$$ to players
      • black wolf skin for quest or $$ to merchant
  • skeletons
    • good for making early money
      • can drop weapons for use or to $$ to merchant
      • bone chips, stackable, for quest, faction, or sell to players, can be saved for spell research
      • drops money
  • wasps
    • good for early money, watch out for adds (See Dangers Section Below)
      • wings, stackable, $ to merchant or save for later Spell Research
      • royal jelly, $$$ to merchant
      • Giant Wasp venom Sac, $$$ to merchant, sell to Rogues for poison
      • drops money
  • Pixies/Fae drakes
    • Suggest to leave alone for now. They are higher level and when you kill them, they eventually will start to attack you when you run by.
      • gems, stackable per kind, sell to merchant, use for Jewelcrafting.
      • pixie dust, stackable, sell to merchant
      • pixie wing, sell to merchant

If you can find a ranger or druid willing cast Spirit of Wolf, you can run between Felwithe and Kelethin to complete the Going Postal (Felwithe to Kelethin) quest. This is good experience around level 3-6. Trying this before 3 or after 6 does not give as much experience

Dangers

The main danger is wandering orcs. In the newbie area, you may see an orc pawn or two.

The other thing to watch out for is the area around you when fighting wasps. The wasps will social, and ask their wasp friends to help them out. Fighting 1 can quickly turn into fighting 2, 3 or more.

Killing Pixies will have a loss of faction with Pixie. While attacking a pixie it will get help its pixie friends. After killing enough, then will no longer like you, and will attack you when you run by.

Killing Fae Drakes will have a loss of faction with Skytalons. While attacking a Fae drake it will get help its Fae drake friends. After killing enough, then will no longer like you, and will attack you when you run by.

Will-o-wisps should be left alone as they are much higher and will kill a new player. Later when they are no longer red are a good source of money through their lightstones.
