Dragon
Description
There are many different dragons across Norrath they come in many varieties; frost, fire, prismatic. Dragons have a huge, reptilian appearance, can breath magic according to their color, can cast caster and priest class spells, and are ageless (but not invulnerable to death through combat or other means).
Lore
Dragons believe they were the first race to populate Norrath, being deposited from their god Veeshan which is basically a colossal space dragon which left her claw marks across the continent of Velious as a sign of her claim of the planet. This origin story confers a sense of racial superiority in most dragons (exceeding even the haughtiness of the average High Elf) which predictably makes them incredibly hostile to all mortal races which they perceive as amusing cattle at best, verminous invaders at worst.
Dragons on Norrath are generally divided into two factions. The minority Ring of Scale are the more hostile faction which seek to infiltrate, subjugate and ultimately eradicate all other sentient mortal races of Norrath. The Claws of Veeshan and related Guardians of Veeshan are led by Yelinak who agree that mortals are inferior but not worth the trouble of fighting, and time is better spent in dedication and worship to Veeshan.
Dragon society in Velious seems to be tightly regimented with castes based on birth. The oldest dragons such as Yelinak, known as the First Brood or Elder Dragons, tend to be revered as leaders.
Dragons may be the origin of all researched caster class spells as implied in the in-game book On Languages.
