Introduction

Hi! Quick guide for helping the Barbarian fishermen of Western Karana get their revenge on the petty extortionists, Guard Donlan and Guard McCluskey. EXP is solid for solo players who are alright with hurting some reputations. Made for Enchanter & Bard.

What you'll need:

  • Level 36 at the very least. I started here at 37 and was met with the expected amount of resists from the harder pair of mobs in this rotation,

though they never lead to any deaths, just frustration.

  • Enchanter: Journeyman's Boots for the movement speed. Pet attack keybinds are nice.
  • Bard: A good drum helps. Pet attack keybinds are nice.

What makes this camp good?

  • Experience. These petty extortionists 100% of the time drop a Guard Bracelet. These are non-lore quest items which can be handed over to Capt Linarius in

the nearby Northern Plains of Karana for over 1% each (tested at level 37 & 38). Over an hour and a half with a lot of errors, I gained a full level.

  • Safety & room for error. If something goes horribly awry, all you have to do is walk away for a bit. Everything you'll be fighting is a warrior with average

movement speed. There's plenty of empty space, few hills to block line of sight, and no aggressive roamers are present anywhere near the guard tower.

  • Location. This camp is located next to a vendor, there's a bind point one zone over for melee, and Qeynos is a fairly short walk away. Getting here is as simple as getting a port to NK.

What makes this camp bad?

  • Negative reputation. All of the mobs you'll be fighting are on FOUR factions. It's important to understand if these factions are or will be relevant to you before you begin.
  • Slight variation on Guard McCluskey's level. This can cause some issues with resists, but can be mostly remedied by hasting a charmed Einhorst McMannus.

Faction Hits

Negative:

Qeynos

  1. Bloodsabers
  2. Circle of Unseen Hands
  3. Corrupt Qeynos Guards
  4. Kane Bayle

//Barbarian

  1. Merchants of Halas
  2. Shamen of Justice
  3. Steel Warriors
  4. Wolves of the North

Positive:

  1. Guards of Qeynos
  2. that's it!

The Strat:

Setup

For buffs, Enchanters shouldn't need anything outside of Clarity, their best Charisma boost, & Jboots. Rune III & Major Shielding are great to have on while learning the pulls.

Memmed spells: Enchanter

  1. Freebie
  2. Beguile
  3. Color Flux
  4. Mesmerize
  5. Root
  6. Tashani
  7. Memory Blur
  8. Freebie

Spells you'll be swapping into are your nukes, Tepid Deeds, Augmentation, and Lull.

Memmed songs: Bard

  1. Crission's Pixie Strike
  2. Solon's Song of the Sirens
  3. Selo's Accelerando
  4. Selo's Consonant Chain
  5. Kelin's Lugubrious Lament
  6. Fufil's Curtailing Chant
  7. Freebie
  8. Freebie

Other useful songs include Jonthan's Whistling Warsong for finishing off mobs fleeing while snared, and Hymn of Restoration just in-case.

Head to the Barbarian Fishing Village (#13[[1]]) in Western Karana. Druids can port you to Northern Karana, and Bards can get themselves bound at the nearby gypsy camp before heading over.

The Pull: In-Depth

Locate Einhorst McMannus in his shack at the center of the village. He does not roam, and does not seem to have a large aggro range.

Enchanter:

  • Make sure JBoots are up!
  • Tashani > Einhorst McMannus & proceed to pull him over to the guard tower. You should be able to get in LoS of him without aggroing, even at scowling.

Decoylocs for my guide aaaaaa2.png By the time you reach the tower, you should have more than enough ground to hard-cast Beguile without him being able to reach you.

  • While Einhorst is charmed, quickly try to land a lull on Guard Donlan. Once successful, send Einhorst to fight Guard McCluskey. Mobs will

happily walk through the walls of the guard tower, and so standing south of it and sending Einhorst in is a safe way to not accidentally pull Donlan. Afterwards, pull both away from the tower a tad so Guard Donlan doesn't aggro when Lull falls off.

  • Keep enough distance from the pair so you can hard-cast Beguile if charm breaks early.
  • Keep the fight even. McCluskey spawns anywhere from level 34 to 38. Haste & slow as needed, understand that nukes landing is a coinflip, and if you're

able, keep Root on McCluskey.

and they will both begin to flee.

off with nukes. Loot your Guard Bracelet and relish your chunk of hard-earned EXP. The hard part is done. Now for the relaxing bit.

  • You should be near the guard tower after finishing off both of the high level mobs. Tashani the static lv30 Guard Donlan and run back over to the

Barbarian Fishing Village.

  • Once you're there, hard-cast Beguile on Guard Donlan as he's running at you -- if done correctly, he won't get a hit on you.
  • Locate Ulrich McMannus. He spawns in the field nearby Frostbite's pen, stands there for a moment, then seems to path down to the coast, then up to

the building at the northern edge of the village. If you don't see him right away, he's likely inside of it.

Tepid Deeds + one or two light nukes usually do it for me, though more may be required depending on RNG.

  • Break charm, kill Guard Donlan, memblur > tash Ulrich McMannus, kill. Loot bracelet.
  • Run back over to where you started -- in front of Einhorst McMannus's hut -- and med up. The four mobs we're fighting here have a roughly 6 minute

respawn timer, so get ready!

  • Repeat until you can't hold any more bracers. To turn in, bind nearby the village & run to North Karana. Capt Linarius is inside of the tower at

the SK zone line. Turn them in one at a time, run down one level to sell, and gate back.

Bard:

Decoylocs for my guide aaaaaa2.png Pull him up to the guard tower at Selo's speed. Quickly Kelin's Lugubrious Lament > Guard Donlan.

tad so Guard Donlan doesn't aggro when Lull falls off.

  • Unlike Enchanter, keeping the fight even is not your #1 priority. Instead, keep your distance, continue to re-charm Einhorst McMannus, and have

him and Guard McCluskey fight until Einhorst is at roughly 10% HP. Don't do anything that would generate aggro on McCluskey -- just let the two fight.

Keep up Selo's Accelerando.

  • Re-charm Einhorst McMannus and let him beat on Guard McCluskey as he chases you around. Keep aggro. Targeting macros help a lot here.
  • Re-charm until Guard McCluskey is also at sub-17% HP, then break.
  • Snare & finish both off.
  • Optional: Land a charm on Guard McCluskey before he dies to get full EXP from the kill if you can. This won't work if he spawns at

his high-end lv38 (Solon's Song of the Sirens only works up to 37), though that happening is somewhat rare.

  • Loot your hard earned bracer!

Nice job. The hard segment is over.

  • TL;DR for this bit: pull Guard Donlan from the guard tower over to the barbarian village and have him fight Ulrich McMannus. Ulrich is

an undercon and wanders around the village on a set path. If you can't find him, check inside of the northernmost building.

  • Have them fight until one is at roughly 10% hp, break charm, and charm kite like you just did with the above two. Break charm and finish both off,

being sure to charm Ulrich McMannus at least once so you get full EXP.

  • Loot bracelet, sell fine-steel, etc
  • Wait for Einhorst McMannus to respawn, and start from step 1.
  • Repeat until satisfied!

Bracer turn in values (approx.)

  • level 36 is roughly 1.5%
  • level 37 is roughly 1.3%

each level onward seems to decrease exp by .2. at level 40 i'm receiving roughly .6% to .7%. still a solid bonus on top of these kills, though it seems 41 would be the level to move on.

The Verdict

This spot is a calm, scenic camp that's nice to fall back on when you're wanting out of the claustrophobic halls of Splitpaw Lair. Many reputations will be hurt, a few of them harder to regain than others, but if that is alright with you, I couldn't recommend this camp enough. There's occasional chatter in OOC, folks generally being kind to each other, and a whole lot of good vibes going around that enrich the mood given by the fast EXP gains & scenery. With the higher level pair of mobs you're fighting here, it'd be safe to stay here until even level 41 -- longer if you don't mind Ulrich & Donlan being green.

I fell in love with the scenic nature of this spot when I... kinda came across it by complete accident. I'm terrible with directions, and stumbled across the pair of corrupt guards during a wrong turn. I got an evil vibe from how they greeted me when hailed, and after a bit of theorycrafting & wiki delving I came up with this strat. It certainly hurts a lot of factions, though that is conveniently not something my RP Iksar Enchanter cares about.

Overall a great spot that I'll be coming back to, for the scenery if not the exp.
