Description

As you would expect, these are notably larger than their regular counterparts.

There is a red-boned variant that is a much higher level than the white skeleton model. This variant drops the

and skeletal appendages.

The giant skeletons occur in three separate areas of the Rathe Mountains. The first is wandering around area #6 on the EQ Atlas map, although they don't tend to last very long here. This is due to the fact that they and the cyclops that also wander the area are mutually hostile, and the cyclops are capable of making short work of them. The three skeletons that I found before they died all /considered blue to a level 25 character. *NOTE: first one is marked on map near Lake Rathetear entrance. He spawns right Infront of gypsy camp #4 on map. Loc 3646, 1512. He is on 6 min timer, if he is not there he wanders circle around that area until killed by cyclops so just wait by the camp and he will come back.

The second place they occur is wandering around area #19, alongside the hill giants and cyclops that also spawn in that portion of the zone. I wasn't able to observe whether or not the hill giants will also attack and kill the giant skeletons, due to the fact that hill giants have an average life expectancy measured in seconds in the Rathe Mountains. The skeletons that spawn here range in level, /considering blue, white, and yellow to a level 25 character.

The third area they can be found at are #24 and #25 on the map. One giant skeleton spawns directly in front of the bone tower containing Bindlegrob and Sindlegrob, and it is always level 23. Nearby, another one spawns amidst the stone slabs of the ruined druid circle, and will always be level 24. These two giant skeletons spawn alongside other undead, but are not social with them. They can be single pulled with ease by any player, and nothing will assist them.. with one exception.

Also at the ruined druid circle(#24 on the map), the red variant of the giant skeleton can spawn. The white-boned giant skeleton is NOT the placeholder for this much higher level version. Instead, the other undead that spawn around the toppled stones are all possible place holders. Any spawn point has a chance to pop as a level 30 red giant skeleton, and they are much, much tougher and more resistant than the white version. They are also social with their lower level counterparts. Complicating this is the fact that the white-boned level 24 giant skeleton that spawns here shares its exact spawn point with another undead, which can also sometimes spawn as the red-boned level 30 giant skeleton. Both versions of the giant skeleton will stand in the same place, overlapping and making for a rather tough pull if you are unlucky enough to have them spawn at the same time.

While this fact may be annoying for soloists, it does have an upside. A small group of high twenties or low thirties characters can actually do quite well at #24, as clearing the lower level undead PHs will cause the level 30 red-boned giant skeletons to spawn quite regularly. Coupled with the short six minute spawn timer, a half group can be kept fairly busy killing not only the white and red-boned giant skeletons, but also the dry bone skeletons, barbed bone skeletons, and skeletal monks that can be found here too.

Additionally, the nearby A Basalt Drake camp is a good alternative if either or both of the A Giant Skeleton camps happen to be taken.
