GM events are extremely rare on Project 1999, and (depending on your definition of "event") it's been several years since the last one. At some point in the future the staff may resume such events (there is always hope), but until then this page is largely a historical record. Players should not expect to see many (if any) GM events on Project 1999.

10 Year Anniversary 2019
When: October 6, 2019
In celebration for 10 years of Project 1999 players banded together and met up in West Commons. A new server first zone player count was reach 706. There was a congo line around west common lake which hundreds of players took part in. Guides joined in with the players to celebrate. 4 An enraged griffin appeared across norrath. West commons, North Karana, Dread lands & Iceclad Ocean. Players split up to take down these ferocious beasts. Guides illusion-ed players during the festivities. After each An enraged griffin was slain players were rewarded with 3 illusion potions + a firework. 4 luck players, 1 per each of the zones listed, was randomly picked and recieved a Guise of the Deceiver.
Cleansing of the Karana's 2017

The Swarm Mother appeared alongside numerous A Swarmling while the Karanas were plagued. The Swarm Mother, along with her horde, disappeared when the Karanas were cleansed from Bertoxxulus green mist.

Halloween 2016
When: October 31, 2016
A server-wide scavenger hunt, led by Braknar. One had to get a fright list and a fun Halloween-y illusion from a fear monger, and then find 16 NPCs across the world and scare them. A tiered loot system was in place and a special faction system was used to verify if you had successfully scared each NPC. There were also two raid bosses who spawned after a certain number of NPCs had been found and scared.

Halloween 2015
When: October 31, 2015
A server-wide scavenger hunt, led by Braknar. One had to find 4 sets of 4 NPCs and say 'Trick or treat'. This could result in either a trick or a treat. (Examples of tricks: A port from WK to WC, an ice comet, an AE blind spell - examples of treats: chewed gum, ingredients for baked potato soup, etc)
Reward was incorrectly implemented, so you received a spooky illusion and something completely random like a loaf of bread.

A server-wide PVP competition which will have one winner per class, awarded a fitting title. And an overall winner? Following Live.

Christmas 2013
There was a GM event (~150 people?) in Everfrost Peaks. Santa broadcast for help and people started showing up after the long trek there!
"Santa vs. Krampus"
From Derubael (Server Guide): "Pretty much all the items I gave out in the 'find santa' thing went to low and mid lvl characters. Most high level druids and wizards who figured it out quick and got there first ended up with an illusion pot. The 'find santa' event was meant to be something everyone could participate in, and they absolutely did - a wide range of player classes came and found me, and were given stuff that (in most cases) were upgrades and/or sellable items for them. The Krampus event was just meant to be fun for anyone who could get there. Everyone there made a roll and the top 5 rolls got items."

Faydedette Invades LoIO
When: July 14, 2011
Early in the morning around 3am pst Faydedette visited the Lake of Ill Omen. He was light blue to me at 44 so it was a nice mid lvl raid boss. It looks like there were around 20-30 people engaging it to take it down. Highlights were the server first Siblisian Berserker Cloak going to Slayde of Ascension.
And an Iksar Egg (Effect: Illusion: Iksar) to Sowpro of Altered Vision.
All of the melee received a clickable Can o` Whoop Ass and the casters received Clarifying Spores.

Kunark Launch Scavenger Hunt
When: March 25, 2011
See this thread for Rogean's behind the scenes. The launch of Kunark on Project 1999 was preceded by an event the night of Friday, March 25, 2011. It involved a scavenger hunt to collect the heads of various races for messengers of the Iksar nation, then a short battle as each of the messengers returned to their boats. There were serverwide messages throughout the evening keeping everyone up to date on the progression of the live quest, as well as when Kunark does open. The boats and port spells to Kunark were then unlocked. The opening of the zones will coincide with the level cap being raised to 60 as well as the ability to create Iksars. This will all happen without a server patch.
Serverwide Rares
Beginning with the unlock of Kunark and lasting only throughout that night, every mob on the server had a very rare chance to drop high value classic items, such as the Guise of Deceiver and others. To promote fairness for all levels, and to prevent high level characters from slaughtering low level zones, these items will only have a chance to drop if experience was awarded for the kill (aka, the "Trivial" loot system). The following items dropped:
- Guise of the Deceiver
- Box of Abu-Kar
- Manastone
- Rubicite Breastplate
- Glimmer Ring (1 charge of instant right-click Gate)
- Staff of Forbidden Rites
- Scimitar of the Mistwalker
- Thex Dagger
Achievements
As players obtain certain server first goals, they will be broadcasted to the server. Currently the system will only congratulate players for level achievements, but other type achievements such as mob kills or quests may be added. For example, a broadcast will automatically congratulate the first players to levels 51 to 60. It will also congratulate each individual class to level 60, and it will also announce various Iksar levels, including pre-50, and also the first of each Iksar class to 60.

- There will be no buffing or summoning period prior to starting, you may buff and summon pets after the event begins.
- The entire arena inside of the walls will be used, if the action begins to become stale the playing area may be limited to the raised portion of the arena.
- The event will be fought to the last person, however, the last 3 survivors will receive a prize of 70%, 20%, and 10% of the collected entrance fees.

Usually impromptu PVP bashes, have been held in East Freeport, Greater Faydark, and The Arena.

Halloween 2010

A last minute event that saw the East Commonlands overrun with werewolves. Number of players in the zone got to well over 350. Drops included Lustrous Armor and Cryosilk Armor, as well as a few unique items:

The mad rush at the boss of the event, Lycanthropy Bob, caused the zone to crash before he could be killed. Five Guise of the Deceivers were awarded via /random in WC after the event.
